Eötvös Károly Policy Institute’s (EKINT) background analysis to the „Free Church in a Free State” conference held on 3 October 2014.

The background analysis, similarly to EKINT’s keynote essay on the conference, reviews freedom of religion along four aspects: the legal definition of church, the neutrality of the state, the equality of churches and the recognition of churches. The analysis pays special attention to the changes of regulation regarding the legal status of churches and focuses primarily on the period between 2011 and 2014.
